The Project
CAISA was commissioned to execute a complete turnkey sulfonation plant for a client in the industrial chemicals sector. The project covered everything from detailed engineering through to commissioning, including fabrication, assembly and instrumentation.
The central piece of equipment is an 8 m³ reactor manufactured in SAF 2205 duplex stainless steel, with a half-pipe heating jacket designed to operate under both vacuum and pressure conditions, equipped with a high-efficiency agitation system. Alongside the reactor, CAISA fabricated a 25 m² condenser in SAF 2205, a 2800 L florentine vessel in AISI 326 and a 3000 L process tank in AISI 326.
The process pipework, manufactured entirely in AISI 326, connects all the equipment and integrates the field instrumentation required for full process automation.

Results
The plant was delivered on schedule and successfully commissioned. The choice of SAF 2205 duplex steel ensures a long service life in the presence of the corrosive media typical of sulfonation processes, while full automation allows the client to operate with minimal staffing and maximum process traceability.
This project demonstrates CAISA’s capability to execute complete industrial turnkey installations in demanding corrosive environments.
